We all know Alberta – especially southern Alberta – can be a very dry place. And as the population and industry continues to grow, the pressure on our water supply keeps mounting. The Government of Alberta recently announced support for irrigation projects as part of its economic recovery plan. But can we add water capacity? Or do we have to make do with less? And what are the impacts of urban growth, agriculture and industry on the water supply?

Please join the School of Public Policy for a panel discussion on the economics of irrigation and water allocation, and the future of the water supply in Alberta.

Confirmed Speakers:

  • Alex Ostrop, Chair, Alberta Irrigation Districts Association
  • Jason Unger, Executive Director, Environmental Law Centre
  • Wim Veldman, Independent Hydrotechnical Consultant
